Ashford Borough Council has endorsed the first-phase concept for the revival of the Odeon cinema, marking a key step forward for the historic venue’s restoration. The approved plans focus on modernizing key areas while preserving the building’s original character.
Among the latest designs, the project will expand capacity in the studio theatre, enhance accessibility with a new High Street entrance, and upgrade backstage facilities. These improvements aim to improve functionality while maintaining the cinema’s heritage appeal.
The public will have the opportunity to review the plans at a consultation event scheduled for 18 September 2026, running from 10am to 4pm in County Square’s Main Square. Feedback gathered during this session will inform further refinements to the proposal.
While the immediate focus is on restoring the art deco-style High Street frontage, foyer, and first-floor spaces, the project retains flexibility for future developments across the wider site.
