Visit Cornwall, the council’s tourism board, went into liquidation in late 2024 or early 2025, marking the end of its operations.
Cornwall Council has retained ownership of the 'Visit Cornwall' brand license and assets following the administration, ensuring continuity for the region’s tourism identity.
The Cornwall Visitor Alliance, an independent not-for-profit organization, has been formed to take over marketing, represent local businesses, and develop strategic partnerships in Cornwall’s visitor economy.
The alliance is led by five volunteer founding directors, including Laura Plum of St Austell Brewery and Katie Warren as chair, with a steering group comprising VisitBritain, Visit Isles of Scilly, CATA, local Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), and councils.
Plans for membership options, strategic partnerships, and detailed operational strategies will be unveiled at an autumn event, as the alliance prepares to drive a sustainable tourism future for Cornwall.
Sarah Preece, Cornwall Council’s cabinet member for tourism, has stated that the alliance will work toward delivering a thriving and sustainable visitor economy for the region.
