Yemen Clashes: Airstrikes, Drone Downings, Houthi Gain

Yemeni government forces carried out airstrikes on 13 September 2026 against Houthi positions, personnel, and military equipment in Al-Taba Al-Sawda and Jabal Al-Munim at the Al-Dhabab front in southwestern Taiz province. The strikes targeted key Houthi strongholds amid persistent fighting in the region.

During the same clashes, government forces shot down five Houthi drones in the Al-Aghbara area on the Al-Wazi’iyah front west of Taiz. The downings occurred as both sides engaged in heavy exchanges near the contested frontlines.

Meanwhile, Houthi forces announced control of Mayyun Island in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait on 13 September 2026. The strategic island lies near key maritime routes, marking a territorial gain for the group.

On the ground, government forces reported advances in Al-Jawf province near the Saudi border as of 13 September 2026. The gains suggest limited but notable progress in the northern front, though fighting continues in the area.
