A 42-year-old man from Paulsgrove, Del Leon Somerville, has been charged with violent disorder and assaulting a police officer after participating in an anti-migrant protest in Portsmouth on Sunday night. The protest saw hundreds of demonstrators block roads at Eastney Marina in an attempt to prevent coaches carrying 120 migrants from leaving the city.
Somerville remains in custody and is due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on Saturday (September 14, 2026). Assistant Chief Constable Tony Rowlinson confirmed this arrest as the 'first of several' expected as the investigation into the incident continues.
