Guernsey to Expand Hot Meals in Primary Schools

Guernsey’s Education President Paul Montague’s committee is advancing plans to introduce hot meals in primary schools ahead of the 2030 deadline, continuing work initiated by the previous States government.

The committee’s efforts follow a 2024 visit to Jersey, where officials observed how hot meals are currently provided in that island’s primary schools.

Some schools in Guernsey may require planning applications to accommodate hot meal services, particularly those in historic or heritage buildings not originally designed for such facilities.
