Eight individuals from across Scotland were named winners of the BBC Scotland Make a Difference Awards 2026 during a ceremony held at BBC Pacific Quay in Glasgow on Sunday, 13th September 2026. The event celebrated outstanding community contributions, with celebrity judges including Judith Ralston, Cammy Barnes, and Arlene Stuart overseeing the selection process.
Among the honorees was Gordon Mackie, founder of the Red Road Wrestling Club, established in 2001. The club provides free wrestling opportunities for children and young people regardless of background, offering additional support such as free kits, trips to the Highland Games, and organized Christmas celebrations. Mackie also facilitated participation in the Backhold Championships in France at no cost to the wrestlers.
The Active Award was presented to Gordon Mackie for his dedication to young people and grassroots sport. Following the ceremony, BBC Radio Scotland Breakfast will feature each winner on Monday, highlighting their achievements and contributions to their communities.
