Israel has announced it will close the British consulate in Jerusalem as a direct response to sanctions imposed by the UK.
The decision follows the UK’s ban on imports from Israeli settlements, a move that also prompted Israel to restrict entry for certain British MPs, including Jeremy Corbyn and Green Party members.
The UK, France, and Canada jointly implemented the sanctions, targeting goods produced in Israeli settlements—a policy Israel has condemned as interference in its internal affairs.
The closure of the consulate is explicitly linked to the UK’s settlement-related sanctions, according to an ITV News report.
